Every Monday, GameTap hosts an 18-hour tournament, with fabulous swag given to the top ten winners! Our April 21 tournament features Taito's spy-thriller-slash-public-safety-announcement, Elevator Action.

As Agent 17 -- codename Otto -- you?ll sneak through heavily guarded office buildings, liberating stolen files. You enter each skyscraper from the roof, working your way down to the basement in elevators and escalators while eliminating enemy spies as you go. Armed only with a pistol and second-to-none martial arts expertise, you must gather every critical file and then escape in your getaway car.

This Week's Grand Prize
Each of the top ten winners in this tournament will receive some GameTap swag from our hall closet. The grand prize winner, though, will also receive a super rare authentic Elevator Action operator's manual!
Granted the internals are mostly boring schematic stuff, but we think it's an awesome little collectible for any Elevator Action fan.
The Scores to Beat
The all-time high score for Elevator Action, as recorded by video game referrees Twin Galaxies, is 143,450, recorded June 11, 2004 by Ben Carter. Normally this is where I'd show you a photo of Ben, but I can't find one! Instead we'll feature Cameron Feltner, champion of a one-day Elevator Action tournament where competitors played the game on the "Expert" setting, June 2, 2002.

GameTap's Leaderboard is currently dominated by kingraj1020, who holds the top four spots. Yikes!

But don't worry, you don't necessarily have to compete with these guys! The GameTap Monday Leaderboard Tournament is a one-day affair against your fellow GameTappers. Here are the official rules:
- Contestants will have from 6 a.m. EST to 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday, April 28, 2008, to submit their scores to the leaderboard via the GameTap client.
- Only the top score per TapID will count toward the contest, with all other scores being thrown out.
- Only one TapID per household will be eligible.
Not a Gold user? Not a problem! Elevator Action is available on GameTap for free, so absolutely anyone can compete! And not only that, the game is available for both Windows and Macintosh users, because we are awesome like that.
Again, the tournament starts on Monday, April 28, 2008, at 6:00 a.m. EST. If you need help posting Leaderboard scores, check out the handy guide the next post down. Good luck everyone!
