If you were to distill table tennis down to its very essence, you would have Pong, the classic game of hit-the-ball-back-and-forth. Its only instruction: "Avoid missing ball for high score." While not technically the first videogame (that achievement belongs to 1962's Spacewar), Pong was the very first coin-operated arcade machine and the game that arguably launched an entire industry.
