Getting Started

Press the one player start button to begin your career as a professional wrestler, then the two player start button to mix it up with a friend. A menu will appear with three options. A single player can only choose the 1P VS. COM mode, but two players can select either P1 VS. P2 matches, or a pulse-pounding tag-team match against the computer. Use the controller to select your choice, then press the punch button to confirm it.

Character Select

The character select screen will appear, featuring a dozen different fighters. Use the controller to highlight your wrestling superstar, then press the punch button to lock in that choice. After you and your opponent enter the ring, the match will begin! Press the controller in any direction to move your wrestler around, and press the jump button to leap. Finally, perform crushing blows with your fists and feet by pressing the punch and kick buttons.

Grappling

Punches and kicks weaken your opponent, but for big damage, you'll want to take advantage of holds and throws. Close in on your rival to lock them in a grapple. A bar will briefly appear on the bottom of the screen; mash the buttons to fill this bar and overpower your enemy. If you win the grapple, you can perform holds and throws by pressing any direction on the controller, along with the punch or kick buttons.

Pinning

The match will continue until one of the wrestlers is pinned. When a wrestler's energy bar (shown at the top of the screen in yellow) is nearly drained, they can be pinned. Approach a fallen opponent and press the pin button to hold them to the ground. If they remain there for three seconds, you win the match! If you find yourself trapped in a pin yourself, mash the buttons and wriggle the controller to break free.

Street Fighting

Street matches inject even more excitement into the game! In a street match, your opponent cannot be pinned... instead, a ten count fall determines the victor. Press the punch button to collect the weapons and items strewn throughout the stage, then press punch again to throw or swing that weapon. Drain your opponent's energy to nothing, then knock him down for the ten count!

Continues

If you lose a match (and let's face it, even the greatest wrestlers never hold onto their belts for long!), you can demand a rematch by pressing the one player or two player start buttons. You'll return to the fight you just lost... maybe this time you can turn things around and bring home a victory!

Tip: Break It Up

When you're low on energy, stay near the ropes. When your foe knocks you down, any pins they attempt will be broken by the referee.

Tip: An Ace Up Your Sleeve

Every wrestler has his own powerful special attack. Experiment with button presses and controller motions to discover it!

Tip: Out of the Ring

Some throws are strong enough to fling you out of the ring! When this happens, move toward the ring to climb back inside it before the referee counts to twenty, or it's game over!
