Getting Started
Click "Play" on the title screen to begin. A Challenge game will help you hone your golfing skills by playing alone or with friends, while a Tournament match will pit you against several computer-controlled players in a brawl for the lowest score. Choose one of the four avatars to represent you, a name, a ball and a control scheme and you're off to the links!
Controls
You'll choose one of the game's two control schemes when you select your character: "Press & Hold" or "3 Clicks". In either mode, line up your shot by moving the mouse. To make a stroke under the Press & Hold scheme, simply hold down the mouse button to power up your shot; the longer you hold it down, the farther and faster the ball will go. Under the 3 Clicks scheme, click once to start the meter, click again to set your power, and then click one more time to set a hook or slice.
Goals
Sink the ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible -- in golf, you're shooting for a low score, not a high one. Each hole has a "par", usually from two to four, which is the ideal number of strokes to sink the ball. Bank the ball off of walls, over mounds, around traps and hazards, and snag a few powerups if you can...but always strive for the hole!
Tip: Stroke Play
Each control scheme has its advantages. Press & Hold allows for perfect straight shots and easy banks and bounces off the course walls. 3 Clicks, on the other hand, allows for elegant hooks and slices, putting English on the ball to curve it around hazards.
Tip: Powerups
The Spring Ball is the most common powerup -- once you've collected it, click the mouse after your stroke, while the ball is moving, to vault the ball into the air. Other powerups like the Fire Ball or Glue Ball are helpful for hindering your opponents in multiplayer matches, but you generally won't see them in Tournament play.
