Gameplay
The primary game in 4 Elements involves clearing the way for liquid to flow from the beginning of the level to the shrine at the end. This is accomplished by matching three or more colored blocks, which then disappear and clear the way. If you clear five or more blocks, the last block will explode and take out the ground around it as well, with longer chains equaling bigger explosions. Along the way, you will run into obstacles as well, and you will need to consider how you get through or around them.
Other Games
There are two other games in 4 Elements that you will play. First, when you start a new element, you will play a hidden object style game. The goal is to find all the pieces of each of the four objects at the bottom of the screen. Be aware that some pieces cannot be found without the help of the previous object. For example, in the Earth level, you will need to use the key to open the chest to find a piece of the pickaxe. The other game is played whenever you reveal a new page in the element book. You will need to find the differences between the two pages.
Bonuses
The easiest way to defeat obstacles is by using bonuses. There are two kinds of bonuses in the game, ones built into the level and ones you can activate directly. Level bonuses, such as the flaming arrow, are activated when the liquid reaches them. The arrow will fire, clearing the way in front of it. Use bonuses, such as the spade or the bomb, are earned by clearing a sufficient number of the right color block. Bonuses are often the only way to clear a level, so make sure you keep an eye out for them.
Tip: Go With the Flow
In larger levels, the game will display an arrow showing you the direction that you need to go. Use this arrow and the map button at the bottom left corner to keep track of your end goal. However, remember that there may be levels where you may need to move away from the goal for a while in order to hit an important bonus.
