Basics

If you've played any other first-person shooter before, you should feel right at home with Alpha Prime. Move with WASD, look around with the mouse, fire with the mouse buttons, switch weapons with the mouse wheel, and manipulate objects in your environment with [F]. Jump by pressing the Spacebar, and crouch to crawl into low passages and make yourself a smaller target with [C].

Refined Hubbardium

If you find any refined Hubbardium, inject it with the left [Ctrl] key. This hones Arnold's reflexes to a razor edge, allowing him to move and fire at an incredible rate. You may have seen this effect in other games under the name "bullet time".

Hacking

Once you meet Paolo, you have a device for hacking electronics. Press [Tab] to initiate a scan of your surroundings. Mouse over objects with a targeting reticule on them to hack them, then press [F] to activate the object once you're finished. For example, you can press [Tab], target a door, hack the lock, and press [F] to open the door. Remember to press [F] before you deactivate the hacking device, otherwise the device won't function.

Tip: Air

Alpha Prime has functional life support inside the buildings, but so long as you are outside (as you are, briefly, in the beginning of the game) you will need mechanical help to breathe. Locate one of the blue oxygen stations and press [F] to restore your breath. The occasional medical station works the same way, but restores health instead.

Tip: Quicksave

Press F5 to quicksave. If things go sour, you may then press F9 to quickload and restart from that spot. For a more durable save file, press [Esc] to bring up the game's main menu.
