Goals
Your goal in Deer Hunting is to bag the biggest buck you can find. From the starting cabin, use the arrow keys to choose from a number of options. Choose to hunt in West Virginia, New Hampshire or Montana. Choose to hunt Elk, Deer or Moose. Choose to hunt with a regular rifle, scoped rifle, crossbow or compound bow. And most importantly, go through the tutorial section so you can learn exactly how to use your weapon and tools.
Controls
Aim your weapon with the mouse, and move about the screen using the arrow keys. Use "C" to crouch and steady your aim. Tapping "I" will bring up your inventory screen, giving you access to your binoculars, animal call, antler rattle and cover and attraction sprays. When you do see some game, click the right mouse button to prepare to fire, and the left mouse button to pull the trigger.
Tip: Compass
Pay attention to the compass on the bottom-left of your screen. The red arrow is pointing in the direction you're looking, while the blue arrow shows the direction of the wind. Remember if you're standing upwind that you'll want to use some cover spray so as not to spook your prey -- human hunters don't smell good to deer.
Tip: Listen Hard
As you move through each hunting ground, you can ignore any bushes rustling, since they normally don't mean anything. However, if you hear the grunt of your selected quarry, follow the sound and you'll usually find your target.
