Basics

When you begin Asteroids Deluxe, your ship rests in the middle of the screen. You can rotate left or right while controlling forward thrust with a separate button. Tap the fire button to shoot, or hold it down to unleash a continuous stream of fire on your asteroid adversaries.

Shields

If you're about to make a very close encounter with a space rock, press and hold the shield button. This will surround you with an energy force field, making you bounce off of the oncoming traffic. But be warned -- your shields deplete over time, so save it for emergencies.

Enemies

In addition to the asteroids, you also have to deal with flying saucers and killer satellites. Saucers don't waste any time; they head straight for you and fire shots at both your ship and the asteroids. The killer satellites also lock onto your ship. As you shoot them, they separate into smaller craft that can really be a nuisance, so be sure to deal with them quickly.

Tip: They Hate Asteroids, Too

Should enemy saucers or satellites score a hit on some asteroids, be prepared for additional debris to fly your way.

Tip: Get Movin'

As you blast the big rocks into smaller ones, they become more difficult to avoid, so mastery of the thrust control for a quick getaway is key.

Tip: Replenished

Remember that when you lose a life, your new ship will appear with a full supply of shield energy.
