Gameplay
Beyond Good & Evil features a plethora of gameplay styles: traditional platforming action, stealth, puzzle solving, racing, mini-games and more. Control changes according to the situation Jade and her friends find themselves in. Fortunately, the game will tell you how to accomplish everything the first time you encounter a new game mode.
Moves
Jade spends most of her time on foot, and the main action button is used to interact with objects, speak to other characters and to attack during battle. Holding the action button during combat will allow Jade to charge up her special attack.
Goal
Jade's main focus is to find evidence of a government conspiracy, which means you need to remember to take photos of anything that looks important. As you fill up each roll of film, you'll earn new parts of Jade's camera, making it easier to get important shots.
Hovercraft
The rest of the time you'll be spending in your hovercraft. Push in the direction you'd like to go and hold down the accelerate button to speed up. The action button will take care of firing your weapons, as well as parking your hovercraft whenever you pull alongside a dock.
Tip: Photos
Hillys is a rich and beautiful alien world. Take a picture of all 55 animal species on the planet to unlock a special M-Disk. Don't forget to snap shots of Pey'j and the orphans, too.
Tip: Pearls
Collect all 88 pearls in the game to unlock another special M-Disk. You'll get your first pearl after beating the first battle in the game. Most pearls can be found this way, though some are hidden, and you can also earn a few by beating mini-games (check the bar).
Tip: Pey'j
With Pey'j at your side, you can take advantage of his custom jet boots. Using them gives Pey'j a jumping ability that will allow him to flatten enemies beneath him.
Tip: Double H
Eventually you'll team up with Double H, a rebel agent afflicted with amnesia. Use his hard head to charge the government's tanks, as well as to bust down doors and other obstacles.
Tip: Secundo
Your holographic buddy, Secundo, can't really help during battle. What he can do is digitize your inventory items, as well as help repair computers and offer advice.
