Basics
To begin, launch your ball by pressing the action button. Move your paddle along the bottom of the screen, hitting the ball to take out the bricks. Miss the ball and it will disappear. Miss five times and you're done.
Scoring
Players earn an automatic victory by scoring 864 points -- the number of points earned by breaking every brick in two walls. Players earn 7 points for breaking red and orange bricks, 4 points for yellow and green bricks and 1 point for blue and aqua bricks.
Game Modes
Breakout includes several different modes of play. "Breakthru" is a version of Breakout in which your ball shoots through bricks instead of ricocheting off of them. "Steerable" Breakout features a ball that can be controlled. In "Catch," players can catch the ball with their paddle by hitting the action button. In "Invisible" Breakout, the bricks are invisible but light up when struck by the ball.
Tip: Segments
Your paddle is broken up into five segments. The ball's launch trajectory is dependent on which segment it bounces off of.
Tip: Bust Through
Try to break through the wall instead of working from side-to-side. Keep in mind that the ball will automatically speed up when it hits the top of the screen.
