Basics
Burnin’ Rubber is viewed from a top-down perspective. Control your vehicle with the direction keys -- steering with left and right, accelerating by pushing up, and decelerating by pushing down. Score points by bumping other motorists to the side of the road. The only other control is the jump button, which is active when the flashing “Jump OK” message is visible in the upper left corner of the screen.
Moves
Going airborne is useful as both an attack -- destroy another racer and score points if you jump and land on their vehicle -- and as a way to avoid treacherous road hazards. From time to time, it’s even necessary to vault across large bodies of water that bisect the track. Control your jump on the way down to land on those thin strips of track, or you'll be going for a swim!
Warnings
Beware of larger, heavily-armored racers. You can still bump them to the shoulder, but your car will deflect off them on impact. And don’t get too close to the shoulder when you take on one of those big boys, or you he might send you sailing right off the road.
Tracks
There are 32 unique tracks, and the terrain grows increasingly challenging as you progress. Throw in bad weather on some courses to make the road good and slippery…and before you know it, you’ll be reaching for your crash helmet.
Tip: Bump...
Be careful trying to ram other cars if you're close to the edge of the track. The impact may knock you into the wall!
Tip: ...and Jump
Use your jump ability to avoid a large group of cars...and possible disaster. Remember that you must be going at least 100 mph in order to jump.
Tip: Scoring
If you make it through a level without smashing any cars, you'll receive a hefty 50,000-point bonus. Feel like doing some island hopping? It'll net you an extra 1,000 points.
Tip: Set The Pace
Going through the level at top speed is not always the best solution, so adjust your speed according to the other cars. Just like in real life, the faster you go, the harder it is to control the car.
