Getting Started
At the title screen, press the one player start button to begin a game, or the two player start button to take on the S.C.U.M.M. gang with a buddy. Press left and right on the controller to choose your hero, then press the attack button to confirm your choice and begin the action. The joke almost writes itself: So a mummy, a robot-piloting baby, and a ninja are walking down the street, when they're attacked by a bunch of S.C.U.M.M. henchmen...
Controls
When your character appears, press left, right, up, or down to guide him in those directions. Press the attack button to punch, and the jump button to leap into the air. Press attack while you're in mid-air to perform a stylish jump kick. If you're surrounded by foes, press the attack and jump buttons together to use your hero's secret weapon and escape their wrath.
Combat
Walk toward the right hand side of the screen to move through the city. Along the way, you'll encounter thugs from S.C.U.M.M. Press the attack button repeatedly while standing next to one of these criminals to perform a devastating combination attack. You may also grab a foe by walking into them, then pressing the attack button to hurl them across the screen.
Powerups
You'll find items like food and weapons hidden inside oil barrels, boxes, and other containers. Break them, then walk over to the item and press attack to collect it. Food gives you additional health, while weapons can be used clean up the S.C.U.M.M. Press attack while a weapon is in your hand to use it.
Tip: Characters
Each hero has their own unique abilities, ranging from Captain Commando's arm-mounted flamethrowers to Baby Commando's cybernetically-enhanced strength. Experiment with all four Commandos to find the one you like best.
Tip: Running
All four Commandos can run... just tap left or right twice on the controller to dash in that direction. Running is the only way to perform some attacks, like Captain Commando's flamethrower... just run in either direction, then press jump, then attack to set all nearby foes ablaze!
Tip: Multiplayer
Invite a friend along to play Captain Commando with you. Not only does this make it more fun to clean the S.C.U.M.M. off the streets, but the character your friend chooses will compensate for your own Commando's weaknesses.
