Getting Started
First, choose a course: Intellivision Tourney, Classic Course, Invitational Open, Celebrity Pro-Am or Trail of Tears. You may also practice at the Driving Range or Putting Green, or even design your own courses! After selecting a course, you may choose to play every one of its eighteen holes, or squeeze in a quick game of eight holes (either on the front end or back end of the course). Next, choose the number of players and hit the links!
Clubs
While on the course, press left and right on the controller to adjust your aim. Press up and down to select your favorite club. Remember, the three wood (3W) hits the hardest and farthest, while the nine iron (9I) strikes the ball the softest and highest. While on the green, use the putter (PW) to tap the ball into the cup. Use the sand wedge (SW) to dig the ball out of those nasty sand traps.
The Swing
When you've lined up your shot, it's time to swing your club. Hold the swing button to begin your swing. Carefully watch the meter beneath your golfer. When the bar reaches the left side of the meter, release the swing button for a full-strength swing. The bar will quickly slide back to the right side of the meter. Press the swing button one more time when the bar reaches the center of the meter for a picture-perfect swing!
Winning
The object of Super Pro Golf is to drop the ball into the cup with as few strokes (swings of your club) as possible. The cup is surrounded by a patch of light colored grass called a green. When your ball reaches the green, the camera zooms in, letting you make a more precise shot. Use your putter to gently drop the ball into the cup, and proceed to the next hole. The game ends when all holes on the course have been played.
Tip: Putting
Apply a light touch to the putter! Your swing is a lot stronger than you might expect.
Tip: Clubs
You don't have a caddy along for the ride, so be careful which clubs you select. For instance, after finishing a hole, you'll still have the putter in your hand when you begin the next one. Put that putter away and grab a three wood before you embarrass yourself!
