Getting Started
At the title screen, click Single Player, then Quick Mission. A list of the available missions will appear on the left side of the screen. Click one of missions shown on the left, then click the word Accept on the bottom of the screen. If you're new to the Delta Force series, be sure to play through the Boot Camp before proceeding to the more advanced missions. After the mission briefing appears, you may begin the mission selected by clicking Accept one more time.
Controls
When the mission starts, you can move around the playfield by pressing the direction keys. Move the mouse to look around the battlefield, and to target enemies. Press the number keys (1-8) at the top of the keyboard to choose between the weapons you have available, and click the left mouse button to use the currently selected weapon. You'll have everything from pistols to the devastating missile launcher at your disposal, but don't get trigger happy! Each weapon has a limited supply of ammo.
Sniping
Close combat isn't always a smart idea. That's why you've got a sniper scope for those long-distance shots. Press the right mouse button and you'll switch to sniper mode, viewing distant objects through the lens of your scope. When you've lined up a target in the crosshairs, squeeze the left mouse button to take it out. Some weapons will not allow you to use the sniper mode. Also keep in mind that sniper mode must be used before you can call in air strikes (with the 8 key, incidentally).
Radar
The radar, shown in the bottom left hand corner of the screen, is an indispensable ally in any battle. The green circle with the line through it indicates your current position, and the direction in which you're currently standing. Green dots indicate checkpoints which you'll need to visit, and red circles with lines through them are the locations of enemies. Any enemies you've killed will appear on the radar as red X's, letting you know that they are no longer a threat to you.
Saving
The mission ends either when you've finished all your objectives, or are brought down by a stray bullet or other on-the-job hazard. Your soldier is extremely vulnerable to attack, often dying after just a few direct hits. To prevent unnecessary frustration and the possible destruction of your keyboard, be sure to save often with the F11 key. Pick a number between 1 and 3 to choose a save point, then type a name for that save. Press F12 after you've died to return to that point.
Tip: Hit the Dirt
Lying down is the best way to keep your gun steady during those tricky sniper shots. Press the Page Down key to lie down, then click the right mouse button. When you've made your shot, press the Delete key to return to your feet.
Tip: Tower of Power
Towers are especially dangerous, making it easy for the enemy to spot you from long distances. Pick off the soldiers in EVERY tower before you advance, because you won't stand a chance if you don't!
Tip: Custom Combat
If you don't feel comfortable with the soldier the computer has selected for you, you can always choose another one. After clicking Single Player at the title screen, click Character Select, then the arrows to cycle through the military officers available. Finally, click Accept to lock in your choice.
