Getting Started
Click Single Player at the title screen. You'll be presented with two options; Campaign and Instant Action. Instant Action won't be available to you until you've completed missions, so click Campaign instead. A series of campaigns will appear on the top left side of the screen, while any missions currently available in that campaign will appear on the bottom left. Click the campaign you'd like to challenge, then the mission, then OK. Finally, press the Space bar to begin that mission!
Controls
When you arrive in the dense jungles of South America, you'll be able to move your soldier by pressing the direction keys on your keyboard. Move the mouse to look around the playfield and to aim at targets. You can also switch weapons by pressing one of the number keys (1-5). Once you've found a weapon you like, press the left mouse button to fire it. Some weapons have a built in sniper scope, which can be switched on and off with the right mouse button.
Radar
Make good use of the radar in the top right corner of the screen! This will not only point out the locations of enemies and friendly soldiers, but will show you where you need to go to complete the mission's next objective. Follow the green line shown in the radar -- you're on the right track when this line is pointing straight upward. You'll also find a counter on the bottom of the screen which tells you exactly how close you are to the next checkpoint.
Vehicles
Delta Force Xtreme lives up to its name by giving you a variety of different vehicles to ride in, ranging from motorcycles to all-terrain vehicles. Hop on one of these combat vehicles by pressing the Shift key. You can't fire while driving a vehicle, although ATVs usually have a gunman that does the job for you. Accelerate by pressing the up key, and slow down with the down key. Make turns by sweeping the mouse left or right.
Goals
You'll need to finish all the objectives given to you in the mission briefing before you can beat that mission and advance to the next one. It's a task that's easier said than done, thanks to the drug runners in each stage. If you're hit by a bullet, you'll take damage, and the portrait of yourself in the top left hand corner of the screen will change color. If you're attacked while that portrait is red, you'll die! Press either the Space bar or the R key to restart the mission.
Tip: Stay on Course!
Don't deviate from the path set for you! There's a nasty surprise waiting for any soldier who dares venture outside the boundaries of the mission.
Tip: Vehi-Kill
You're a bit safer while riding in a vehicle, because any damage that was meant for you will be absorbed by your ride. However, vehicles will explode once they've taken too much damage, or if they've been flipped over. Get the heck out of there by tapping the Shift key, then run for cover, or you'll be consumed in the fiery explosion!
