Goals
Your goal in Disciples II is to lead your chosen warriors to victory. Use your mouse and keyboard to command your forces. Start by choosing either a multiplayer game, a campaign (where you'll run through a story-mode for your chosen race), or quest mode, where you'll play various, objective-based missions that aren't related to one another.
Actions
Disciples is a turn-based game. During your turn, you'll be able to do one or a combination of the following: explore, erect buildings, upgrade non-capital cities, research new spells, recruit and manage your heroes, buy and sell items, engage in combat and cast spells. During your turn you should worry not only about your enemies' position, but also your resources (shown at the beginning of each turn), your economy, and so forth.
Commands
During the game all the commands you'll need are on the right side of the screen. Simply click on any button to perform an action or give a command. Map/Resources will give you a report on your current situation, Objective reveals your current mission, Options opens the options menu, Display Flags will give you a better idea of who owns each area on the main map, Cast Spell lets you cast a spell and the Diplomacy Screen will allow you to make or break alliances with other warlords.
Capitals
Upon clicking the Capital City button, some new commands are available to you. Research Spells to earn new spells, Exit Leader will dispatch a new group of warriors to the main map, click Manage Army to check your army's positions as well as your city's defenses.
Combat
Click on any unit or landscape feature with an arrow head in order to initiate combat. Combat is played in rounds. During each round you may assist your party with spells, attack an enemy unit, retreat to escape from battle, autobattle to have the game make your decisions for you, choose to skip the turn or defend yourself. Combat continues until one side is defeated or you retreat from battle.
Tip: Lords
Those fighting for the Warrior Lord regain 15% of their damage per day, but are limited to low-level spellcasting. The Mage Lord's disciples can cast two of each spell each day and learn spells faster, but can only heal in cities. The Guildmaster Lord's followers can employ the special "Thief" leaders.
Tip: Thieves
The Thief works alone, and can perform any of the following: Poison, Counterfeit Orders, Spy, Assassinate, Duel, Steal Item, Steal Gold, Steal Spell, and Bribe. Should the Thief fail any of the tasks he attempts, he'll be immediately executed.
