Basics

Dracula Twins is a 3D action platformer that's one part Castlevania, one part Sonic, and a heaping helping of goofy. Playing as Drac and Dracana, the legendary vampire Count Dracula's troublemaking twin offspring, you must fight your way through a series of puzzle- and enemy-filled stages to rescue Daddy Dracul from the famed vampire hunter, Dr. Lifelust. Zombies, ghosts, bats, skulls, and plenty of other dangers await, but the twins are ready to take a bite out of them all.

Controls

It's easiest to play Dracula Twins with a gamepad, but you can also use the keyboard -- it even allows you to configure your own controls. By default, use the arrow keys to move your twin, space to jump and the X key to attack. The first several stages include text tutorial messages that'll introduce you to the twins' special attacks and magic powers, as well as teach you what to expect in later puzzles. You begin the game with three lives, and can only take a few hits before losing one.

Combat

At first things are pretty quiet around Castle Dracula, but Dr. Lifelust has brought backup. And the castle itself is haunted by a whole rainbow of monsters that just like to live in the same neighborhood as the famous Count. You'll have to fight through hordes of enemies to get to the end, using Drac and Dracana's trademark weapons: their bullwhips. If this reminds you of a certain vampire hunter's weapon of choice, just try and remember whose side you're on this time around.

Puzzles

Along with the combat, you'll face increasingly complex environmental puzzles as you roam Castle Dracula -- challenges that range from finding hidden keys to meticulously navigating choppy blades, smashy hammers, spiky traps, collapsing bridges and many other hazards. Each small section of the game is its own self-contained environment, so if you find yourself stuck, backtrack and see if you missed anything that might be hidden.

Tip: Blood Rubies

You'll find Blood Rubies scattered throughout most scenes. Be sure to collect all you see -- each adds a little bit to the twins' pool of magic power, which is drained whenever they use spells and special attacks. If you lose a life, you start the scene over with no magic points.

Tip: Using Magic

By default, you can cast a fireball spell by pushing up and tapping the attack button. The fireball's useful for blasting enemies out of the air, and for hitting foes that are too far away for your whip to reach.

Tip: The Double Jump

Tap the jump key twice to perform a double jump and reach higher platforms. You'll often find clues and tools hidden up high, so it's worth it to explore the rafters.

Tip: The Dive Attack

The Dive Attack is a good way to rain destruction from above. While in a double jump, push down and tap the attack key. You'll perform a powerful downward attack that can smash through some obstacles. This maneuver costs five magic points, so use it sparingly.
