Controller Clarification
The original Neo-Geo arcade machine had a joystick and four buttons labeled A, B, C, and D. Football Frenzy refers to players on your team with letters corresponding to these buttons -- to pass to a receiver with the letter C above his head, for instance, players would simply press the C button on the arcade machine. Check the "Controls" tab to see which keys or controller buttons on your computer correspond to the four buttons on the original Neo-Geo machine.
Play Selection
With only three types of plays to choose from, you won’t be overwhelmed by the options. Simply select a play from the menu with the A button. Running plays don't claim many yards, but are low-risk. Passing plays cover a lot of ground, but catching the ball can be tricky. Finally, if you're at your fourth down and are near the goal, choose a kicking play to attempt a three-point field goal. If you're too far to kick a field goal, choose a kicking play to punt instead.
On Defense
Press button B to switch control from one player to another before the ball is hiked. Once play begins, your team has one simple goal -- find whoever has the ball and tackle him to the ground. When you're close enough to do so, press the A button to have your character tackle the ball carrier.
On Offense
Once you’re ready, hit the A button to hike the ball. Your receivers will take off down the field. Each receiver will have a letter assigned to them. Once a receiver is in the clear, hit the corresponding button to throw the ball to them. Running plays are functionally similar to passing plays, except the receivers will remain close to the quarterback -- handing off the ball is the same as passing it.
Basics
Quick and action-oriented, Football Frenzy is American football boiled down to its simplest terms -- select one of three plays, hike the ball, and run for the goal! The team on offense has four tries ("downs") to proceed ten yards down the field, with the eventual goal of crossing the opposing team's goal line on the far end. Succeed or fail and the other team gets the ball to do the same to you!
Tip: Speed Boost
Tap the A button repeatedly when running for an extra speed boost.
Tip: Interception
On defense, try and position your players to intercept the other team’s passes. If you catch the ball when the other team's quarterback throws it, your team gets possession for another four-down attempt to score!
