Basics

Your goal is to guide five frogs, one at a time, across a busy highway and dangerous river to their homes, one at a time. Move with the directional controls -- being a perfectly normal frog, all your character can do is hop in four directions. No button-pressing is required.

Road Hazards

The compacts, bulldozers, racecars and tractor trailers driving down the street aren't paying enough attention to avoid any stray animals that might wander into their paths, so it's up to you to avoid them. If you're struck by any traffic, you lose a frog and are sent back to the far side of the street.

Lives

You begin with three frogs. Whenever you're struck by a hazard, eaten by a snake or alligator, fall into the river, or simply jump into the wall around the home areas, you lose one frog. Once all frogs are lost, it's game over -- there are no continues, your score is simply tallied and recorded.

River Hazards

Crossing the river is unusually hazardous -- for whatever reason, your frog can't swim! You'll have to jump on logs and the backs of turtles to cross over to your home. Logs are pretty safe, but beware! Some turtles sink below the water's surface. In addition, there are alligators floating downstream, snakes slipping across the logs, and beavers swimming through the water that can ruin your day.

Tip: Tail Gator

Alligators in the river and snakes slithering across logs and the median between the street and the stream are only dangerous on their heads. If you jump onto a gator's back, he acts just like a log. A last-minute leap onto a snake's tail is risky if the snake reaches the end of the log and turns around, but can be a lifesaver if you have no other options.

Tip: Scoring

You'll get 10 points for each hop, plus 50 points for every frog you lead to its home. In addition, you may pick up a purple frog stranded on the river and bring it home with you for a bonus 200 points. If you happen to lead a frog into a home that has a fly sitting in it, you get another 200-point bonus.

Tip: Crafty Crocodiles

Those frog-eating gators don't just drift down the river. In later levels, they'll appear inside the frog's homes, blocking their entrance. If you lead a frog into a home area that has an alligator inside, it's easy to guess who'll win that match. Wait for the gator to leave, or lead your frog to another home area.
