Basics

Hotel Giant 2 is a complex hotel management simulation. Though your specific goals will vary depending on the exact scenario, your general goal is to please your customers and make your hotel profitable. In some scenarios, you will be starting your hotel from scratch, in others, you will be charged with taking an existing hotel and turning its fortunes around. Besides running the rooms, your hotel can also have various sub-businesses, such as a restaurant or gym, that you will also need to manage.

Rooms

Your first task, particularly when given a brand new hotel to work with, is to create rooms for your guests. To begin, click on an empty area of your hotel. If you want to see a different floor, just click the up and down arrows in the top left corner of the screen. Once you have the area selected, hit the rooms button at the bottom of the screen. If you have any rooms already made, there will be a saved template available. Each room created from a template will be identical. If you are creating a new room, simply hit the new room button, and drag until the room is the size you want. Once you have finished, you can click inside the room space, hit the room button again, and create a sub-room such as a bathroom. Be aware that while you can stamp your new room template throughout the entire hotel, it is best to have rooms of different sizes and prices for your guests.

Objects and Decoration

Now that you have a blank room, you will need to furnish it for your guests. Click inside the room, then click on the object button to bring up the object menu. There is a wide variety of different furniture options available, and some categories will have sub-categories. Once you choose your item, place it in the room. Be sure that the green squares are in the open space. If you need to turn the item, just hold down the mouse button and move. If you need to move or remove an item that's already been placed, use the buttons in the bottom right corner of the screen. Be aware that any changes made to a room, such as a new item, will change in every room with the same template. Also be sure to add a good amount of furniture and amenities to each room. Your customers won't be very happy with just a bed and a bathroom.

Information

Hotel Giant 2 provides you with a wealth of information about your hotel. The most basic information can be found by hitting the 3 buttons on the lower left corner of the screen. These buttons will give you information on your guests, your staff, and your rooms. You can also gain information by double clicking on a room or person. On some screens, you can also make changes. For example, when you double-click on a room, you can change the pricing for that room (and all rooms of that template). More detailed information on your hotel, its finances, market info, and so on can be found by clicking the blue "i" button in the upper left corner of the screen.

Tip: More, More, More!

Generally speaking, you can't go wrong by cramming as many kinds of furniture and amenities into your rooms as you can. Your guests usually expect it of you, and you can raise your prices to compensate for the additional expense.

Tip: Listen To Your Customers

Paying attention to customer feedback is critical to your hotel's success. Once you are at the customer feedback screen (either by using the customer icon or by double-clicking on a specific guest), you will see several buttons reflecting the guestâ¿¿s activities, complaints, needs, and preferences. Though all are important, you should focus on the needs and complaints first. Guests in Hotel Giant 2 can be very picky, and you will need to work to minimize their concerns. You can also view comments from guests who went to other hotels instead of yours by going to the market research screen.

Tip: Lots of Detail

Hotel Giant 2 is an extremely in-depth simulator with many options, ranging from picking out carpeting to planning the menu in the hotel restaurant. To get a full understanding of all these possibilities, we strongly recommend playing through the Learning Campaign prior to any other campaigns or scenarios.

Tip: Need For Speed

The default speed for the game is quite slow, with an in-game day lasting nearly a full real-time hour. In most circumstances, you may want to use the arrows at the top of the screen to speed up time. You can also use the "7" button to skip an entire week at once.
