Getting Started

Press the one player start button to begin the game. If you'd like to challenge a friend to a pulse-pounding tag team fight, press the two player start button immediately afterward. The character select screen appears. Use the controller to highlight the character you wish to use, then press any action button to select them. After you choose your fighter's partner, the first match will commence!

Special Moves

All the characters in Kizuna Encounter have special moves in addition to their standard arsenal of attacks. To perform these amazing moves, enter a command on the controller, followed by an action button. For instance, Rosa's Sword Tsunami can be performed by pressing down, down forward, forward, and the weapon button. After the command is entered, Rosa will create a deadly wave of energy with her blade.

Tag Team

Your team of fighters will appear on the left side of the screen, with your opponent's team standing on the right. Only one of your fighters will be available to you at a time; to switch from one character to the next, stand in the striped tag zone near your partner and press the change button. Your hero will retreat to the sidelines, while their partner will replace them as the currently selected character.

Controls

Each fighter has a punch, a kick, and a special weapon strike. Press the punch button to lash out with your fists, the kick button to send a foot in your opponent's face, and the weapon button to swing your weapon, the most powerful of all basic attacks. All three attacks can be boosted in strength by holding forward on the controller while pressing any of the action buttons.

Matches

Tag team fighting is the cornerstone of Kizuna Encounter. There are no rounds; a match ends the moment one of the fighters is knocked out. This makes it important to bring out your second character when the first one becomes weak. If you knock out one of your opponents, you win the match and advance to the next one. If one of your heroes is brought down, you lose the match. Press the one player or two player start buttons to restart the battle.

Tip: The Hits Just Keep On Comin'!

Kizuna Encounter is a very combo-friendly game. Jump toward an opponent, then hit them with a rapid-fire string of punches and kicks, ending with a strong weapon strike. If the first hit lands, they'll be helpless to defend themselves against your assault!

Tip: Two Against One

Corner traps are an effective way to deal with your opponents. Corral your enemy into the edge of the screen furthest from their tag zone (and closest to yours!), then pile on the punishment! They won't be able to tag out, making them easy to knock out.

Tip: Double Their Displeasure!

There's a special team attack which can be used in times of desperation. When your hero's life bar is flashing red, enter the tag zone, then press back, down, and down-back on the controller and tap the punch button. Both members of your team will put the hurt on their opponent!
