Building
The toybox is the main interface component when you're building. Just left click on it and it'll open up, revealing a series of logically organized menus that include buildings, paths, tracks and so forth. While the toybox is open, the game is paused -- you have all the time in the world to choose structures and place them. Just left click on an item in the toybox, position it in the area where you want it to go, and click again to set it down. Right-click to rotate a piece before you place it.
Trains
You need a Depot to build and run trains. Left clicking on a Depot will produce a default train for you to play with; if you right click on it, you can customize your train before putting it on the track. When you're ready to run the trains, close the toybox and everything starts to move! You can use rail switches and alter train paths now by left-clicking on the switches in the game world. It's all about efficiency, so keep those trains running on time.
The City
Your Loco world is populated with LEGO people, who will go about their usual daily lives when the toychest is closed. You want to build an efficient, well laid-out city for them to live in. This means nice straight paths, lots of roads to drive their cars on, all the buildings they want and of course a convenient rail system. You can command people to move by left clicking one, then clicking where you want it to go. Move them yourself by dragging them where you want to go.
Tip: Eraser
You can use the eraser to get rid of things you don't want.
Tip: Tunnels
Train tunnels can only be placed at the edge of the screen.
Tip: Bomb
The bomb tool deletes everything on the screen.
