Getting Started

From the title screen, new players should select "Start Game” to begin a new quest. Choose "Load Game” to load a prior save, "Roll Credits” to see a list of Reflexive, Black Isle and Interplay folks responsible for the game, "Configure” to adjust brightness and sound levels, and "Exit” to return to GameTap. "Multiplayer” is unfortunately no longer supported for this title.

You Are SPECIAL

Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader employs the SPECIAL system created by Black Isle for the Fallout series. Interestingly, Lionheart is the only game outside of Fallout and its sequels and spin-offs to use this system. SPECIAL lets you adjust your character stats in the following areas, which are more or less permanent throughout the game: Strength, Persistence, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. At the beginning of the game, pre-fab characters already have their SPECIAL attributes adjusted, though feel free to create your own character that suits your play style.

You Can Do Magic

Unlike Fallout, Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader gives players various magical abilities. These spells may cause massive damage, heal you, give temporary stat boosts, call forth spirits, and more! For further details, please consult the Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader game manual, which we have provided here for you.

Time To Explore

As in all RPGs, you will not spend your entire Lionheart adventure fighting! Get to know townsfolk, merchants, guards, and anyone else who will willingly speak with you. Learn the history of the surrounding area. Use your skills to lockpick and steal, if that’s your thing. You’re going to need to interact in order to complete your quest, but going beyond your main goals and getting acquainted with the game’s lore is its own reward.

Tip: Combat is Key

You may be tempted to lower your combat and play as, say, a thief or a scholar, but for first time players, we highly recommend pumping most of your stats into combat attributes. Lionheart is a very combat-heavy RPG, and while it is entirely possible to complete your quest with less than adequate combat abilities, it will be very difficult indeed.
