Basics
Marble Blast Gold is a silly puzzle game suitable for players of all ages. Guiding a marble through a series of 100 challenging mazes, your objective is to get from start to finish and collect as many points as you can along the way in as short a time as possible. A huge selection of goofy powerups -- and even goofier hazards -- await you on the marble courses. It's a game that's that part mini-golf, part Skee-Ball and all addictive fun. Limber up those fingers, because you need to be fast!
Gold Version
Marble Blast Gold adds even more manic marble rolling madness with 28 new levels (bringing the game to a grand total of 100) , new powerups and surfaces, additional challenges and a Gold score for each level, allowing you to compete against the very top performers. It's the Gold Standard for marble racing games!
Controls
By default, you steer your marble with the direction keys, hit space to jump and rotate your view of the course with the mouse. You can customize your controls in the options menu. The beginner courses act as a gentle introduction to the complexities of marble racing, with each level serving to introduce you to an environment type, objective or powerup. Beginners should definitely start here, while professional marble drivers can move on to the intermediate and advanced levels right away.
Gameplay
Most of the time, your objective is to get your marble from start to finish as quickly as possible, taking advantage of powerups to build speed. You must qualify for the next level by beating a par time on each course. In some levels you can also pick up gems to increase your score. The real challenge of Marble Blast lies in the fact that each course is a unique maze or puzzle, and you'll need to make shrewd use of shortcuts, special surfaces and goodies to improve your time.
Tip: Wind
Many levels include wind hazards, which can blow you off course. Fans, tornadoes and other environment traps generate wind of differing speeds. Watch out for devious traps that combine a wind source with a low-tension surface to blow you right out of bounds!
Tip: Changing Direction
A marble doesn't exactly turn on a dime when it's going top speed, so many levels add to the challenge by putting gems and powerups right near the edge of the course. It's easy to go out of bounds, but if you jump and turn at the same time, you can change direction without all that pesky inertia.
Tip: Surface Tension
Marbles roll differently across different surfaces: mud is very slippery, grass grants you better traction, tile allows for regular control and so forth. Take advantage of surfaces to dodge obstacles and improve your time.
Tip: Marble Aerobatics
You can steer your marble while it's falling in midair. In some cases, this is the only way to reach certain areas and avoid going out of bounds.
