Controls

Your adventure can be completely controlled by the keyboard. Use the arrow keys to move your characters. Other basic commands follow: [S] to fire arrows; [C] followed by a spell name to cast that spell; [R] to rest; [B] to bash down weak walls; [I] to check your inventory; and [M] to view the map. All of these commands can be accessed by clicking on the appropriate icons to the right of the screen, as well.

Mr. Wizard

Pressing [Tab] will bring up the options menu. Here you can save, load, adjust the sound effects and more. Remember this command, as you'll want to save your game regularly. You can also call for help from Mr. Wizard here, which will teleport you back to the fountain in town. The cost is a random amount of experience, so use at your discretion.

Creating Characters

To begin, head to an inn and check in. Once that's done, you can choose to create a character based on rolling for stats. As you roll, different classes will light up. Choose the class you want, as well as the gender (male and female are equally strong). Choosing your alignment -- good, neutral or evil -- won't really affect the outcome of the game all that much, either. Create at least two fighters, a couple of magic users and at least one thief. Put the fighters at the front of your party.

Tip: Save Often

You never know what's hiding around the next corner. Get in the habit of saving frequently in Might & Magic III if you hope to live through the entire quest.

Tip: Double-Cast

You can get off a quick two spells if your enemies are out of melee range. As your first spell lands, quickly tap [C] again for a recast.

Tip: Balance Your Party

A party full of nothing but fighters is no good. A party full of nothing but magic users will fall quickly. Balance your party with a good spread across all attributes -- strength, speed, agility, magic, etc.
