Powerup Select
You also have the ability to apply a special Powerup to a specific team attribute, giving your team extra power for the attribute you choose. The list includes Full-Team, Attack, Defense, Speed, Teamwork, Technique, Captain, and Goalkeeper.
Movement
Move your men on the field by pressing in any direction. You control one player at a time, which is represented by a yellow arrow and the abbreviation 'P1' above his head. If the player you are controlling goes off the screen, control automatically switches to the closest player to the ball.
Offense
On offense, you have three control options: The Shoot button kicks the ball hard toward the goal. The High Pass button lobs the ball up into the air toward the player you are aiming. The Short Pass button kicks the ball a short distance in front of you.
Team Select
Before you start a match, you must first pick the region and team you want to control. Select and area, which ranges from Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Americas, then select your team -- there are 64 in total. Each team is rated by their attributes, which include Speed, Attack, Power, Defense and Technique.
Defense
On defense, you have three control options: The Slide button causes the player you are controlling to slide on the ground and knock the ball away from your opponent. The Rough Play / Tackle button will cause the player you are controlling to tackle your opponent. The Player Shift button will switch control to the player nearest to the ball.
Tip: Free Kick
While the referees are pretty forgiving, it is possible to foul and get fouled in a game. When the other team gets a Yellow Card, you get a free kick. Aim the flashing cursors in the direction you want to kick and press the Shoot button to send the ball flying.
Tip: Chance!
When the word 'Chance' appears during offensive play, quickly press the Shoot button. The perspective shifts to a 3D screen and a long shot for the goal is automatically kicked in the direction you select. If you're on defense and this happens, you must move the player you are controlling in the direction of the shot and press the Slide button to stop the goal shot.
Tip: Injuries
It's possible for your players to become injured during rough plays. Injuries and the impact of rough plays affect team morale and the performance of your teammates.
