The Story
The Two Thrones takes place just after the ending of the previous game in the trilogy, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The Prince returns to his home town of Babylon with Kaileena, the Empress of Time, only to find it ravaged by war. The Prince discovers that the Sands of Time have caused the deadly spirit of the Dark Prince to gradually possess him.
Time Powers
Both the Prince and the Dark Prince can use the Sands of Time to manipulate and control time itself. Time Powers increase as you progress through the game. "Recall” rewinds time and is used to correct mistakes and avoid attacks. "Eye of the Storm” slows down the world around the Prince as he continues at normal speed. "Winds of Sand” is a strong ground attack that hurts all surrounding enemies. And finally, "Sand Storm” is a more powerful form of the "Winds of Sand” that kills all surrounding enemies, rather than hurt them. Each Time Power eats up between one and four Sand slots.
Main Menu
When launching a new game, you will be promoted to create a new profile. Type in whatever name you’d like and press [Enter] to proceed to the main menu. Use the movement keys (by default, [W] [A] [S] and [D]) to highlight an option on the main menu and press [Enter] to select it. From here you can start a new game, load a previous save, change your profile (if you have more than one), access the Options menu and more.
Options
Use the Options menu to tweak the game and improve performance. Here you can adjust volume levels, turn on audio virtualization, change slow-motion camera modes, toggle tutorial messages, blood and subtitles on or off, change the game’s resolution, adjust filtering, shadow and water effects, basic game controls, and more. The Options menu is not only accessible from the Main Menu, it can also be brought up during a game by first pressing the [Esc] key.
Controls
Throughout the game you will switch between the Prince and the Dark Prince, both of whom share most main control inputs. Attack with your dagger using the left mouse button. Grab, use a secondary weapon attack, or trigger a "speed kill” with [E]. Pick up and throw weapons with [C], and rewind time with [R]. Use the right mouse button for special contextual moves like running on walls, swinging on bars and blocking attacks, switch to first-person view with [F], and pause the game with [Esc].
Tip: Speed Kills
In certain situations, both the Prince and the Dark Prince can perform attacks that instantly kill one or several enemies in a single shot. These will have to be performed while you are hidden and undetected by enemies. When a Speed Kill is possible, the corners of the game screen become blurry and white. When this happens, quickly press the [E] key to initiate the Speed Kill.
Tip: Back in Time
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones is the third in the Sands of Time trilogy. While it is a wonderful game on its own, we recommend acquainting with the first two games, which are also available on GameTap – Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.
