Getting Started
Upon starting the game, you'll find Nathan in the middle of a fierce firefight. Use the mouse and the [W]/[A]/[S]/[D] key combination to move, aim, and fire your rifle as you follow your squad leader's directions. Once you finish this introductory scene, Nathan will awaken inside the Coalition's base, where you'll receive a full tutorial on his weapons and bio-augmentations.
Weapons
Nathan has three sets of tools at his disposal: primary weapons (i.e. guns), secondary weapons (including grenades and nanoboosts) and bio-augmentations, which grant you special abilities like cloaking and enhanced vision. Press [Q] and [E] to cycle through augmentations and secondary weapons, respectively. Most firearms have some kind of "alt-fire" assigned to the right mouse button, so experiment with each new one you get.
Missions
Most missions in Project: Snowblind consist of pure urban warfare, but a handful are stealth-oriented levels where things are a lot easier for Nathan if he remains undetected. Press the [F] key to toggle a beacon directing you to your current objective, and press the [R] key to either reload your weapon or interact with anyone or anything nearby.
Hacking
In many sections you'll be required to hack into a computer panel, gun turret or robot to proceed. To hack, you'll need to fire your Icepick weapon at whatever it is you want access to (assuming you have Icepick ammo, of course). You'll be taken to a menu of options -- sometimes you can shut down security devices, and sometimes you'll get to control gun emplacements and spider-bot drones.
Bio-Augmentations
As you advance, Nathan will have more bio-augmentations at his disposal. Enhanced Vision lets you see enemies through walls, Cloak renders you invisible until you open fire, Reflex Boost causes a Matrix-style slow-motion effect, Electrical Storm takes out all enemies and robots nearby and Ballistic Shield makes you invincible for a short time. These all run on bio-energy, which you can replenish with item pickups.
Tip: Augment or Perish
It's easy to forget that Nathan's supposed to be a super-soldier, not just your run-of-the-mill action game hero. His bio-augmentations are great ways to escape from lopsided firefights unscathed. Reflex Boost is arguably the most useful of all, giving you seemingly infinite time to pick off enemies at your leisure.
Tip: Get Creative
You're allowed a lot of freedom in this game to figure out your own way around obstacles, and your weapons are the keys to that freedom. For example, the Icepick is a killer close-combat weapon when you aren't hacking computers with it, and the Kinetic Kicker can be used to disable intruder alarms from long range.
Tip: How Kind of Them!
You may be fighting a well-organized, heavily financed rebellion movement, but they're really very nice folks. Whenever you're facing off against enormous machinery or anything else tricky, ammunition for just the right weapon for the job always seems to be scattered around nearby. Take the hint.
