Overview
Putter Golf is a mini-golf simulation in which you must sink your ball under par, while avoiding crazy obstacles and wild layouts in each of the 18 holes you'll face. Like real life mini-golf, this is one of those minutes to learn, lifetime to master situations, where even the best can get a nasty surprise. Balls bounce and roll realistically based on the surfaces over which they travel and the strength with which you hit them. Practice makes perfect, so get out there and work on that form!
Controls
You can control Putter Golf with the keyboard or a gamepad. Once you begin a new game, you're greeted with the first course and a flashing region in which you can place your ball. Maneuver the crosshair to the desired location and hit the action button. Then, using the direction keys or pad, rotate the animated line to set the angle of your swing. Tap the button again, and when the scrolling strength meter at the top of the screen reaches the desired amount, press once more to hit the ball.
Courses
Putter Golf features 18 holes that range from the mildly challenging to the supremely difficult. Each course has a par rating -- it should take no more putts than the par rating to sink your ball, but that's often harder than it seems. If you score well under par, you might be awarded with additional balls to play. Score over par and you'll lose one, two or even three balls at a time. If you ever run out of balls, the game is over and it's back to the clubhouse for you.
Tip; Physics
Take advantage of the guide line to set up complicated shots. Once you're comfortable with the power meter, you'll be able to predict exactly where the ball will go.
Tip: When At First
Putter Golf isn't one of those games that you'll instinctively master. Later courses essentially require that you fail a few times before learning their tricks. Treat your first couple visits as rehearsals and try different tactics.
Tip: Be Sneaky
The most obvious path to the hole is almost always the one you shouldn't take -- there's usually some trick, bend or obstacle that ruins the perfect shot. Scout each course and look for alternatives before swinging the club.
