Getting Started
To begin, you must create a character. There are three different hero classes to select from: fighter (brute strength), magic user (wizardry) and thief (cunning). Quest for Glory III introduces a new, fourth character class: the paladin. The paladin class is not selected from the game's outset. You can obtain this class through gameplay or by importing your previous character from Quest for Glory II. The paladin is a warrior class, but with magical skills thrown in for good measure.
Basics
Quest for Glory III takes the series in a new direction. Unlike the previous two Quest for Glory games, which utilized a combination of movement and text commands, Quest for Glory III uses a more contemporary point-and-click interface. Use the icons at the top of your screen to execute all the game's commands: walk, look, talk and so on. Working with your friends Rakeesh the Liontaur and Uhura the warrrior woman, follow your quest to stop the impending tribal war.
Combat
Encountering a monster on the map of Tarna will take you to a close-up battle view. Here, you can use the menu in the lower-right corner of your screen to swing and thrust with your sword, or parry or dodge. Clicking on the sword icon in the center of the screen will allow you to access your spells, if any. You can also use this sword icon to flee. Remember to search your defeated foes for money and other loot!
Tip: Eat More Waffles
If you're walking around, hungry and out of rations, watch for the Awful Waffle Walker. Yes, it looks like a waffle is chasing you, and no, you're not hallucinating. In fact, the waffle won't disappear until you eat it.
Tip: Sleep Often
Remember to sleep regularly to keep up your stamina levels.
Tip: Paladin
While playing as a fighter, meeting certain criteria will allow you a promotion to the paladin class. It isn't easy, and you must act honorably!
