Basics

Restaurant Empire 2 has two modes, Campaign and Sandbox. In Sandbox mode, you have no specific goals other than to build your restaurant as you see fit. Campaign mode presents the game¿s story, and sets up objectives to meet per each level. The game¿s first campaign is an updated version of the original Restaurant Empire, and the second campaign is all new. If you have never played before, we recommend starting with the original campaign to see the tutorial sections.

Building Your Restaurant

When you purchase a new restaurant, your first task will be to make sure that you have the equipment necessary for both your staff and customers. You will need to build a kitchen and then stock it with appliances to allow you to cook your recipes, and your customers will need tables and chairs. Use the Interior button to find your furniture options. You should also remember to decorate to fit the style of your restaurant, no one likes staring at plain white walls while they eat.

Menus and Recipes

Of course, it wouldn¿t be much of a restaurant if there were nothing to eat. To choose which recipes you want to add to your menu, first hit the Recipe button. When you first begin, you¿ll have a fairly limited selection, but you will learn more as you play and gain expertise. On the Recipe menu, you can choose to add a recipe to your menu as well as adjust the quality of the various ingredients. You can also open the Menu screen to adjust your pricing as well as add beverages to your menu. Make sure you match your prices to your quality, or you will anger your customer base.

Staff

You can¿t very well run a restaurant all by yourself, so you will also need to hire staff to assist you. You can hire new staff by hitting the Staff button and seeing who is searching for a job. You will need at least a chef, a receptionist, a captain, a server, and a porter to have a functional restaurant. New staff may not be the best, but they will learn with practice. You can also choose to spend some money each month for staff training to improve their skills further.

Tip: Cooking Competitions

You can enter your chefs in regional cooking competitions. Victory means money, prestige for your restaurant, and improved skills for the chef. Winners may also get new recipes and other restaurant enhancements.

Tip: Events

On occasion, you will see a siren flash in the bottom right hand of your UI. This indicates that a customer has something to talk to you about, and you can click the siren to go straight to that customer. The customer may offer you new recipes, tips on your current recipes, special ingredients, and other perks, so it¿s important to watch for events.
