Moves

As in the original Space Invaders, you play by moving your gun base left and right at the bottom of the screen, firing upward at the approaching aliens. The aliens appear in the sky above, flying in different patterns but relentlessly moving downward. When an alien reaches the ground, the game ends, so avoid letting them touch down at all costs. You begin the game with three gun bases. Being hit by enemy missiles (or your own gunfire reflected back at you) will destroy your gun base; lose them all and it’s game over!

Overview

The aliens' strange shapes are more than merely cosmetic. Each different type of alien has unique behaviors and threats. Certain monsters can absorb multiple hits, others go berserk when wounded and some can even reflect your shots and turn them into friendly fire. Your first order of business should be to get a good handle on the abilities of each new Invader -- you won't get far if you just fire blindly.

Shields

You can duck for cover behind the four Xero-Guard shields that stand between your gun base and the Invaders. Unlike the shields in the original Space Invaders, Xero-Guards can't be chipped away; they absorb damage and break apart in two stages. Fortunately, shields regenerate at the beginning of each new round, so use them to your tactical advantage!

Tip: Challenging Stage

If you can destroy all the Invaders except the ones on the top row, you'll enter a Challenging Stage where you can rack up tons of bonus points.

Tip: Saucers

The saucers that fly across the top fire homing missiles at you. But they often carry powerups, so it's worth the effort to try and take them down.

Tip: The Eye!

Watch out for the large, aqua-colored enemy with the single red eye. You have to hit it dead center to destroy it -- otherwise it will reflect your lasers back at you!

Tip: Color Coded

Enemy fire comes in several forms. Yellow missiles home in on you, blue are fast and powerful and the red ones are slow and easily destroyed.
