Basics
If you've played any other point-and-click adventure, you'll be more or less familiar with the controls for Sam & Max Episode 4. If you played the previous episodes, the controls are exactly the same! Just click on a bit of floor to move Sam & Max to that spot. Click on an object to interact with it, or click on a person to initiate a conversation.
Dialog
Clicking on a person will initiate a conversation. When it's Sam's turn to speak, click on your response from the menu shown. Max will butt in from time to time with his own outlook, but there are a few sequences where his input is important enough to warrant his own menu. In these cases, there are icons on the left side of the dialog menu that let you switch between the different dialog options for Sam and Max.
Items
As you move your mouse around the screen, many items will be highlighted with a name. Click on those items to interact with them. Usually the result is some expository or humorous dialog, but sometimes Sam will pick up the item to take with him. You may access your inventory by clicking the box on the lower-left corner of the screen.
Tip: Menu
Click the icon that looks like a gear in the top-left corner of the screen. This will open the game menu, allowing you to save or load your game progress, set your game options, restart your game or quit.
Tip: Revisit
You're playing Episode 4, and Sam & Max Season 1 is halfway over. Think you've completely explored all your surroundings in the previous three episodes? Don't be so sure! You'll still need to check every corner, nook and cranny for the items and hints you'll need to finish the fourth episode, so don't take shortcuts!
