Main Menu
The main menu gives you several options for getting into a game, learning how to play, and setting up an optimal experience. "New” will give you the option of starting a new Campaign, Skirmish or Multi-Player game, and "Load” will load a previously saved game. "High Score” displays the current high scores for all of the game's campaigns. "Options” lets you adjust sound, video, and gameplay, "Extras” lets you view the credits and web links, and "Exit” will bring you back to GameTap.
The Map
When playing in the Campaign, a good deal of time will be spent on the map screen. Here, you will choose where to attack, buy, sell and repair units, monitor your money and political reputation, and more.
Battle
The actual battles in Shattered Union are turn-based and require tactics. Think of it like a game of chess – you must always think three steps ahead of the enemy and use your resources wisely. There are many nuances to be mastered in Shattered Union, consult the included game manual to get a feel for all of the tools available to you.
Tip: Tutorials
It is highly recommended that new Shattered Union players view the game’s three tutorial videos, accessed from the Main Menu. The three tutorials include "Playing the Campaign,” "Basic Combat” and "Unit Statistics.”
