Saving and Loading
Press [F5] to save, and [F7] to load. All controls can be customized, as well as mapped to various controller buttons, in the options menu.
Getting Started
The goal in Silent Hill 2 is to figure out the mystery behind the letter received by the main character. From the title screen, you can choose to play the main quest or the bonus "Born From a Wish" scenario. Various game options, such as specific controls and graphic effects, can be turned on or off from the options menu found here as well.
Controls
To move around, use the directional buttons. Press [A] or [D] to step left or right; [Space] to perform an action on items you can interact with; [P] to pause or skip a cinematic; [Left Shift] to run or guard during battle; [S] to enter search mode; [I] to check your inventory; [L] to turn your light on or off; [M] to check your map; [H] to use a health pack; [E] to choose your next weapon; and [R] to reload.
Tip: Cover of Darkness
To get the most out of Silent Hill 2, play at night, with the lights off and the sound up. Prepare to be scared out of your wits!

Try reading the letter from Mary when you reach the Lake View Hotel…
Tip: Extra Options
Finish the game once and restart to access a new options menu. One of the options you can adjust is how many bullets you'll find lying around Silent Hill.
