Characters
Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails the Fox share many skills in common, but each can perform one completely unique move by pressing Up and the action button. Sonic can do a super spin for an extra burst of speed, while Tails will hover into the air for a short while.
Basics
Like other Sonic games, Triple Trouble puts you in control of the rocket-powered hedgehog and his two-tailed vulpine companion across a series of high-speed platform challenges. Run and jump your way through each stage, attacking enemies by leaping into them or using your spin-dash attack. Collecting rings will allow you to withstand an enemy attack, but nothing will protect you from falling into a bottomless pit -- a mix of nerve, skill and caution are essential to success.
Enemies
Your three foes will dog you at every opportunity. Nack appears in the special stages where you collect Chaos Emeralds, while Knuckles often appears as a boss or works to make Sonic's life difficult in other creative ways. Of course, eventually you'll have to face off against Dr. Robotnik, too, since he's behind the madness.
Special Stages
To collect the Chaos Emeralds, you'll have to find the secret Special Stages. Some powerup monitors have a picture of a Chaos Emerald on them; break these while you hold at least 50 rings to open a gate to the Special Stage. In this stage, you'll either race through a maze or collect rings in a biplane. At the end of most special stages, you'll have to face down Nack in battle before you can claim the gem.
Tip: Lost Rings
Unlike most Sonic games, you don't lose all your rings when hit by an enemy. In some levels you will lose 30 rings; in later stages you'll lose 50. Grab as many as you can before they bounce away!
Tip: Nick Nack
Nabbing the Chaos Emeralds from Nack is no easy task. Not only do you have to chase him down, half the time you've got to pummel him senseless as he attacks in his airbike as well.
