Map

Now that you're aboard the station, you'll want to take a look around the place. Press the arrow keys on the keyboard, or use the mouse to move the cursor outside the boundaries of the screen, to move in any direction. Press the Insert and Delete keys, or spin the mouse wheel, to adjust your elevation and see things from a different perspective. Finally, hold down Right Control on the keyboard and move the mouse to change the camera angle.

Getting Started

When the game begins, you'll be asked to create a profile. Click New Profile, then click on the text window that appears and type in your name. Next, click the right arrow on the bottom of the screen. Highlight the profile you created by clicking on it, then click the right arrow again to advance to the main menu. Click Missions from the list, then click on one of the available missions. Finally, click the right arrow on the bottom of the screen to begin that mission.

Items

You'll see objects scattered throughout the hull of the ship. Left click them to beam them up and add them to your “pattern buffer,” or inventory list, on the right side of the screen. You can left click on an empty space inside the station to drop the objects you've just collected. Note that you can also collect objects on other floors... just click the 1, 2, and 3 icons on the top right corner of the screen to switch to the three different floors of the station.

Cargo

Any cargo you've collected can be unpacked. First drop the cargo by left clicking the mouse, then set the cursor over it and right click. The box opens, revealing its contents. To take the item out of the box, click its picture in the center of the screen. Cargo boxes may contain anything from blueprints for new ship additions to work droids called scuzzers, which activate the moment they're taken out of the box.

Aliens

Not every life form in the galaxy is friendly. Luckily, you can count on alien soldiers to protect your investments. Hold down the left mouse button to create a green beacon called a “muster point.” Next, click that muster point to have your alien soldiers rally to that point. When you encounter a hostile life form, click on it and your soldiers will quickly surround and neutralize it.

Blueprints

Once you find a blueprint, you may set it anywhere in the station. Move the cursor to the area where you'd like to drop the blueprint, then click to set it there. You may be allowed to choose the size of the blueprint; just move the mouse around after clicking to adjust the size to your liking. You may also rotate the blueprint by holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse. When a blueprint is dropped, a scuzzer will rush in to build the structure shown in the blueprint.

Energy

You have a limited supply of energy, shown at the top left hand corner of the screen. Energy acts as currency on the station, determining what you can afford to build. Poor management of the station and a failure to address enemy threats will drop your energy level. If your energy ever drops to the point where it's impossible to complete the goals of the current mission, you'll lose the game! Be sure to save often by pressing the Escape key, then clicking the Save option.

Tip: Working Conditions

Be sure to build living quarters, restaurants, and sick bays for your workers when you can afford it. Although an expensive initial investment, they will ensure the continued health and safety of your employees, which will ultimately reduce costs. Stores and entertainment facilities will further improve worker morale, boosting the efficiency of your employees.
