CSIA Kit

The CSIA Kit is your state-of-the-art FBI investigation field kit, and has everything you need to gather and analyze any clues you may run across. When you run across a clue that can be analyzed, your cursor will change from white to blue. First, you will need to gather the clue by using the correct tool from the bottom of the kit. In some cases, you may need to use multiple tools. For fingerprints, for example, you will first need to dust for the prints, then use the 3D scanner to collect them. Once the clue is gathered, you will see it in the bottom right corner of the kit. To analyze, highlight the clue, then use one of the three analysis buttons in the upper right corner of the kit. Again, you may need to use more than one. For bloodstains, you will first need to do chemical analysis, then a database search.

Tip: Death

Unlike many adventure games, it is possible to die at certain parts. Given the sadistic killer you are up against, this shouldn't be too much of a surprise. So you should save frequently, particularly if there is a timer running.

Basics

Still Life 2 is a point and click adventure game, and has basic controls. To move, click on the area that you want to go to. If you see an object of interest, move the cursor over it, and the cursor will change to represent what you can do to the item, such as examine it more closely or pick it up. To access your inventory, click the right mouse button. You can then choose an item to use. If you want to use an item on yourself, choose an item, then click on the ID card next to the inventory.

Claire

For clues that need further analysis or investigation, your friend Claire can help put the pieces together or get the extra information you will need. She may also be able to shed light on other mysteries you may run across. For some clues, Vic will call Claire automatically, but you can also call her at any time by pulling out your smartphone.

Tip: Inventory Management

Your inventory only has 16 spaces, and you may occasionally run into situations where you have already filled your inventory and need to pick something else up. Though you can't drop an item directly, you will occasionally run across empty containers that you can stash your extra items in. Just remember where you put them, as you may need them again later.

Inventory

Your inventory will contain all the items you have collected. When you go to pick up an item, the game will tell you how much space the item will take up in your inventory. As you only have 16 slots to work with, you may have to rearrange things to get certain larger items to fit. You can also use the buttons on the side of the inventory to combine or separate items. From your inventory menu, you can also access your smartphone, which contains documents and recordings that may be useful to your investigation, and your CSIA kit.

Tip: Standalone

Though certain parts of the game, such as the prologue, are flashbacks relating to the events of the earlier games in the series Still Life and Post Mortem, you will not need to have played those games to follow the case of the East Coast Killer.
