Basics

Fast, nerve-wracking and not for the timid, Tube-It combines the classic puzzle style of Tetris and adds a new twist: your job is to connect matching colored nodes on the left and right of the screen using the twisty, bendy, never-the-one-you-need tube pieces that fall from the top of the screen with ever-increasing speed. Rotate, drag and flip the pieces to form pipes connecting like colors. But the better you do, the faster things move -- and when the block pile reaches the top, it's all over!

Controls

Like Tetris and similar puzzle games, the controls for Tube-It are not rocket science: maneuver your cursor around the screen with the direction keys or joystick, and use the two action buttons to rotate, drop and drag the tube-containing blocks. Note that you can manipulate blocks in midair and while they're sitting on the pile: you can even drag a block out from under a bunch of others, if there's room. The trick is managing this when you have three or four half-finished pipes snaking around.

Strategies

Some players prefer to go straight for one of the matching colored nodes on the other side, adhering to the old "shortest distance is a straight line" philosophy. The drawback to this is that it can leave you with mountains of unused bricks whose configuration didn't match your needs, and they can really pile up and get in the way. Other players prefer to create extravagant, winding pipes that take roundabout paths, but make use of as many blocks as possible. It's your call.

Multiplayer

Tube-It is incredibly addictive on its own, but you can also play in a split-screen mode with a friend (or enemy). The controls and objectives are the same in multiplayer, but this time your job is to create more connections than your opponent while keeping your overall brick pile as low as possible. Whoever's bricks pile to the top of the screen first is the loser, and deserving of mockery and ridicule. Just select two players from the main game screen to start play in this mode.

Tip: Size Matters

Blocks fall faster and faster as you progress through the game's stages, but there is a way to slow things down: if you construct really long tube networks, the game will take pity on you and cut the speed a little bit.

Tip: Multitubing

Successful Tube-It players are able to manage multiple half-finised tubes at once, growing each depending on which block is coming down next. This takes a lot of practice, but it's the only way to master later levels.

Tip: Two Sides

You don't have to start at one end and finish at the other, or work left to right, or anything like that. Based on what's falling toward you, it might be best to start your tubes from both sides at once and meet in the middle.
