Basics

Your fighter craft can be moved in eight directions as the ground scrolls by below. Enemies attack from all sides -- primarily from the top of the screen. Your ship is equipped with twin guns that fire straight ahead and can destroy most enemies in a single hit. Avoid contact with enemies or their projectiles. You begin with three ships; when all three have been destroyed, the game ends. There are no continues, my friend.

Powerups

In addition to your standard blaster, your ship also possesses a super missile attack which can fire straight through most enemy ships. These are in limited supply, and the number remaining is indicated at the bottom right. You can collect additional missiles by flying over the POW symbols which appear occasionally throughout the game.

Red-Eye

There's one enemy that missiles do not pierce: The large red-eyed enemy that approaches every once in a while. However, it's worth destroying, as it's worth a cool 1000 points.

Scoring

The missile weapon is capable of piercing multiple enemies, and hitting multiple enemies in a single shot will increase your score significantly. The first enemy struck by a missile is worth 100 points; the second is worth 200; the third is worth 400, etc. Each additional ship destroyed with a missile blast is worth double the value of the previous kill.

Sneak Attack

The biggest threat posed by enemies is their tendency to loop around and try to hit you from behind. It's a good idea to try and take out as many approaching foes as possible -- not just to score points, but to decrease the likelihood of being destroyed from behind.
